Disaster management act – human rights
Question
I am a doctor working on contract basis in govt hospital. Now with the covid 19, the hospital I work is changed to covid hospital. When I tended my resignation, the dean of the hospital has refused the resignation and forcing me to work. Can the govt force someone to work against their will because of a disaster? What should I do to resign my job
Answer ( 1 )
In normal circumstances, the government cannot compel any employee to work however during the pandemic times, it is the responsibility of a doctor to follow their medical principles and do their duty. however If your resignation is not being accepted, approach the Municipal Commissioner of your area and seek assistance against the threats being issued to you. The dean cannot deny to accept your resignation if valid reasons have been stated therein.
Also, kindly tell me if your appointment in the hospital was on contract basis/temporary or permanent in nature?
