society dues
Question
I am resident of society in mumbai.
My husband deserted me in 2009. I obtained court order protecting my + child right to stay in the matrimonial flat.
Husband stopped paying society maintenance which sent notice which I put up in court seeking order directing husband to clear socty. dues.
In 2019 husband expired.
I informed society about this.
Since then society has been claiming dues from me and my mother in law, we being legal heirs. However on asking it to share the details about flat, and about transfer, they have not co-operated with me at all. (Release deed given by mother in law)
Now they have filed dues recovery with Dy registrar.
Despite requesting a meeting with society repeatedly, offering to pay principal amount, requesting waiver on interest, society has not responded.
I am not original defaulter, yet being harassed by the society.
What is law of limitation and can I seek it to decrease my maintenance liability. Can i seek waiver of interest, given my financially difficult status.

Plead your case before the Registrar as per the bye-laws of the society. the Registrar would be having power to direct non payment of interest if the delay was bonafide and genuine including no notice of demand issued by the society RWA.
