My father had applied for and received a trade license in year 2005 on the ground floor in a room measuring 3 mtrs X 4 mtrs. Though he took a trade licence, he never started any business as he was not in good health. He expired in the year 2019. In Jan 2020 we got a letter from local Municipality that the trade license has not been paid since the start. On enquiry, we came to know that the pending license fee will be around 50,000+. What should I do with the notice. I am the eldest son.

You will have to inquire if the license was ever granted because if the license fee itself was pending to be paid, the license may not have bene granted. If the licence was granted on the condition of payment of money, you can surrender the license of your father informing them of the demise along with certified copy of the death certificate. the amount, if any paid by your father for obtaining the trade licence will not be refunded.
