Can anyone take your picture or video without your permission in India? Do they have the right to upload it on social media? Is there any value in India for the loss of dignity caused by it?

Taking pictures and videos without the permission of the person who is captured in the video is against right to privacy however there are exceptions to it. You havent stated whether the picture was clicked in a public place or elsewhere. The place where the picture is taken is important to find if the right to privacy is being breached and what remedy would lie for infringement if any caused to the person whose pictures or videos are being taken.
Further, if the picture was taken in a public place, yet action can be brought against the person who is taking it if he uses your picture for any illegal purpose or posts it anywhere without your permission. That definitely would infringe your fundamental right of right to privacy.
