Question

While applying for public sector jobs (Central government), can a ST category candidate apply under UR category even after having a valid ST certificate as the candidate does not want to avail any ST reservation benefits due to personal reasons. Kindly clarify; 1. Can ST candidate apply under UR? 2. In doing so (applying under UR) amounts to disqualification at any stage of the selection process? Thank you in advance..

    If any ST candidate does not want to avail the extra benefits given for any recruitment, he may apply in UR category where he will be considered only on his merit. Further, this is no ground for disqualification however once you apply in UR category, you cannot change your category after the selection process is started.
