If you have the promissory note with you, you dont need to worry. Since you helped a friend in need and you are not a money lender, file a recovery suit after sending a legal Notice through an Advocate directing him to pay the money or face legal consequences. meanwhile, you can also file a criminal complaint before the police showing his ill intention from the beginning to cheat you by making you part with the money without any intention to pay back.
