I accidentally walked into a park which was open and there were 3 people already there..

We were maintaining social distancing.. However police came and took us to the station, made us sign a undertaking in Marathi(was not able to understand much) and said that there will be a case filed a against us… Pls guide in what would be the next steps.

You need to share the undertaking which has been taken by the police for getting a proper advice.

Otherwise, since it is prohibited to use the park etc during the lockdown period, the police can very well book a case against you and the rest for violating the provisions of Disaster Management Act because this by any perception cannot be considered to be an accidental act but done with full knowledge.

You may take a defence that since others were already present and we took all the precautions as suggested, yet just because others were present in the park, doesnt mean that you also violate the law.

Better to speak with the police official and find out what is the undertaking all about and apologise to him saying that the mistake shall not be repeated again.
