Loss of Vehicle on Police Custody

Question

My car was in police custody for some time, now in a massive fire in the captive vehicle area my car is also destroyed, who would be responsible for the loss, is there any legal proceedings being initiated, the case is already pending with the court for proceedings
Please advise….

    If the loss has occurred due to negligence of the police, file a suit claiming damages.
    Further, if the police was negligent in preserving the car after confiscation, a suit for damages from the state is advisable.
