Payment of Salaries to employees during Lockdown

Question

I run a sales company with around 15 employees in total, since the lockdown was announced the office was shut down and no business had taken place. Do I still need to pay my employees their salaries. I have asked them to defer their salaries but they say it is illegal to do so. My company is registered in Telangana.

    Yes you are required to pay the basic salary to all the employees as per the instructions issued by the government of India. The Ministry has announced that no employer can cut the wages of the salaried employees during this time as all of them are working from home.
