We have been asked to put down papers this Friday without any written communication
Question
Hi Sir/ Madam,
I work in an MNC, and in this troubling time of COVID 19, I am being a soft target for the management in the guise of cost cutting. We have been asked to put down papers this Friday without any written communication. My manager and my HR called me, and without any previous hint they all sudden said there are multiple reasons based on which the management have 200 people and asked them to leave and I am one of the 200 to let go. My working relationship with my team and the manager in the past 10 years has been good and professional, no behavioral or compliance issue, I also had a project to work on which later my manager took it back from me, by giving some lame reasons. When I asked them on what basis have, they selected me and asking me to put down the papers? I did not get the clear response on what basis they have selected my and asking me to put a resignation, vaguely they said I will get a three months’ notice and basic salary. The HR did not give me any clarity about the gratuity and the gross salary. How can I survive in basic salary? I have financial commitments Are they not compelled by the company law to give proper reasons before terminating the employees. Also, they are supposed to send me an email.
I have been working in this MNC from last 10 years and I was a good employee. The project that I was working ended on 30-may-2020, and on June 2nd I got another project internally but my line manager purposely not let me join the project last week, when I asked me why is he not letting me join the new project he said that he is looking for some better projects.
I would like to seek legal suggestions, should I ask my employer to give me a proper reason in an email and asking me to leave with the clarity on three months gross salary during notice period and also my gratuity on completing 5 years as I have completed my 9 years in the company. Or should I write my resignation?
Regards.

No dont write the resignation. Your employer may or may not be required to give reasons. That can be answered only after going through your terms and conditions mentioned in the appointment letter when you joined.
If the company is asking you to put in papers they must do so in writing if there has been no complaint or disciplinary issues against you.
If they keep forcing, record the conversation when you speak with them and depending on their attitude, a legal notice may be served seeking reasons and proper settlement of account in case employee i.e. is being sacked because of corona.
