Society not cooperating for Solar Panel Installation

Question

Hi, I live in a Cooperative Housing Society in Pune. I want to install solar panels on the roof of my Row House. The roof of the Row houses do not come under the common area and therefore I have the roof rights. I have requested the society’s management committee for approval but they are saying that since solar panel installation is a permanent external structure therefore they need to take general body approval. They are also saying that the management committee will need to study the impact of the installation from an aesthetic point of view. I have explained that as per sections 171 A & B of the new Cooperative Housing Society bye-laws, it is binding for the society to provide space even in common areas whereas I am only seeking permission to install in my own area. Society is keeping silent and I have yet to receive any response. Kindly advise next steps.

If the Society is not responding, send them a reminder regarding the same mentioning specific timeline for respond. Thereafter if no resolution is reached then approach the District Registrar for the societies asking him to grant permission for the same.
