My ex-boyfriend asking for money he gifted me appliances & furniture for my new flat when we were in relationship. He is very toxic in behaviour, though i was compromising that but later his behaviour became worse so I had to break up with him. He paid around 6lakhs for the flat which my mother has repaid him. Now he is asking for money he gifted for the flat and sent me a lawyer’s letter on the ground of fraudulent of money. Is there no law on mental harassment that I had to bear all the years with him? And how will I get out of this situation? My mother can no more give him money, & I’m currently unemployed and broke. What to do?

If he paid because of the relationship between you both, then you are advised to get an appropriate reply to the legal notice only if he has proof for the payment made by him. Are the bills in your name?
If the gifts were made voluntarily without any inducement by you, then you need to prove the same if he files a case against you. Further, best advice can be given after going through the legal notice sent by him.
